Damon Stoddard is a partner at Heal & Co. LLP and has practised construction law and civil and commercial litigation since his call to the Ontario Bar in 2005.
Prior to joining Heal & Co. LLP, Damon practised at a leading mid-size Toronto law firm, where he worked on a variety of construction disputes including lien claims, breach of trust claims, delay claims, acceleration claims, deficiency claims and professional negligence claims on behalf of workers, trust funds, subcontractors, contractors, owners, professionals and material suppliers.
In addition to his construction law practice, Damon has experience in real property and leasing litigation, mortgage enforcement, Tarion proceedings, bankruptcy and insolvency litigation, shareholder disputes and labour and employment law matters.
Damon regularly appears at the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and before the construction lien Masters at Toronto on a wide variety of construction and commercial matters. Damon has also appeared at the Commercial List and the Federal Court of Canada.
Damon received an LL.M. degree from McGill University in 2007, where he prepared a thesis on the subject of intellectual property rights and, specifically, the protection of regulatory data submitted to Health Canada by innovative pharmaceutical companies. Damon also received an LL.B. from the University of Victoria in British Columbia in 2003 and a B.Sc. in Honours Biochemistry from McGill University in 1999.
Damon is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Advocates’ Society, the Ontario Bar Association and the Canadian Bar Association.
